Richard Montgomery(violin) studied at St. Mary’s Music School, Edinburgh, and, after completing his degree at the Royal Academy of Music is now studying for a Masters at the Maastrict Conservatoire .

Anna MIchels is a Scottish-Dutch pianist also studied at St. Mary’s at the same time as Richard. She graduated from the Maastricht Conservatoire and is now studying for a Masters at RCS. During her time in the Netherlands she was a prize-winner in several international competitions, both as a soloist and chamber musician. She gives lecture-recitals and has also recently joined the staff at St. Mary’s as a Keyboard Faculty Assistant.

The duo have been making music together since their time at St. Mary’s. While considering themselves international musicians their personal mission is to expand the reach of exceptional chamber music in Scotland. Engaging with audiences is central to their approach towards performance and they will introduce each piece in its historical context. While reflecting on their personal responses to the music.

Scottish Government requirements will apply. At Level 1 requirements for the audience will be:

  • Tickets must be booked in advance
  • The audience will wear face masks
  • People from one household may sit together
  • At least 2m separation between 'household groups'
  • "Test and Protect" information will be collected
  • The audience will be shown to their seats by the stewards
  • Audience members will be required to follow directions of the stewards on the day.

We intend to use the church's video screens and, microphones where necessary, to help the distanced audience feel as close to the musicians as possible.
